Dear Colleagues and Friends

We are very much looking forward to hosting the EAACI Congress 2016 from 11-15 June, and to welcoming you to the beautiful city of Vienna.

Vienna was an important Central European city even in ancient Roman times, and it has been for centuries a world center for music and the fine arts. Once capital of the Habsburg Empire, Vienna reflects the culture, architecture and cuisine of all its surrounding countries, making the city a true melting-pot with a lively cosmopolitan flair. Today, the people of Vienna enjoy one of the highest living standards in the world. For visitors, the city’s high culture of opera, museums, and concert halls is balanced by traditional coffee houses and modern pubs and clubs. And of course the celebrated Austrian Heurigen – local winery-restaurants, often family-run, offer a relaxed country atmosphere in the heart of the city.

The Congress is to be held in the Messe Wien Exhibition & Congress Center. This attractive modern venue, opened in 2004, boasts the highest standards in conference facilities, with an innovative and easy-to-follow hall structure and generous exhibition space. Connections from the airport to the city centre are fast and easy, by either public or private transport. And as one of the world’s best congress destinations, Vienna offers excellent hotel rooms for all budgets.

To the theme of this year’s congress we have brought a touch of old Vienna: Waltzing with Allergens symbolizes the ever-turning dance of research science with clinical practice. The classical Viennese waltz was made famous in the nineteenth century by the imperial city’s own Strauss family; dozens of partners stepping and circling, adapting to the constantly changing tempo of the dance, progressed through the grand ballroom as one impressive whole. Similarly, advances in research, diagnosis and treatment of allergic and immunologic diseases are the result of many partnerships between basic scientists and clinicians, modern methodology and traditional methods of observation, innovation and experience, and patients and academia.

We want our congress to be as challenging and as enjoyable as a classical Viennese waltz. We will do our best to make the EAACI Congress 2016 a memorable scientific, social and cultural event for you.

Dear EAACI friends,

On behalf of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology it is a pleasure to invite you to Vienna for the EAACI Congress 2016.

EAACI is a unique platform for sharing novelties and best practices, in a multidisciplinary and multiprofessional environment. The EAACI Congress is the window where room is given to inspiration, networking and scientific updates among specialists, health professionals and patients from around the world. This year’s meeting will confirm this vocation and will aim to maximise interaction.

The 2016 theme, “Waltzing with Allergens”, calls on all attendees to play a role in the Congress “Ball”, empowering them to create their own Congress. By bringing their knowledge in clinical practice and in research, they will raise the value of their congress experience. The Scientific Programme will appeal to a diverse audience and will be enriched by delegates’ involvement at all levels. Similarly to what happens during a ball, synergy is key: little is accomplished without reciprocal exchanges. You will shape the scene and will be the choreographers!

Vienna, the City of Music, will be the perfect setting for such a ball, having the chance to taste the high quality of life that the Congress 2016 location has to offer. The imperial history and grandness of the architecture of this city in the heart of Central Europe will surely engage both EAACI members and participants who will attend the EAACI Congress for the first time.

Join us at the EAACI Congress 2016 in Vienna!
